Beware of Buying on the Web!

   Nary a week goes by that we don’t get a call about, “I found this great speaker on the web. Why shouldn’t I buy that instead of what you guys sell? They have to be a better deal!”

   No. They aren’t.

   We offer unique products by solid companies like B&W, Paradigm and Magnepan. These are custom created products that cannot be copied by hobbyists slapping parts together.

   Almost all of these web speaker “manufacturers” are simply guys working out of basements and garages. They buy parts from driver houses and screw them into boxes. They claim they are created by engineers, scientists and craftsmen. They disappear as fast as they pop up. Some are blatant scam artists! These are NOT solid companies like B&W, Paradigm and Magnepan.

   A clever twist that is growing in popularity is to have a forum tied into the site. As members (including plants!) pat each other on the back for smart purchases they attempt to build community spirit. The linked article shows you where this has gone.
