Kimber.com
Ray Kimber has been making the best speaker and interconnect
cables on the market since 1979. He was doing braided wire with oxygen free copper while
other companies were just saying "bigger is better." Ray taught the industry
that wire is a COMPONENT in a system and contributes substantially to its character of
sound. Ray's goal has been to make his wire sonically invisible so the hardware in a
system can bring out the beauty of the music you're listening to. Nobody has done a better
job!
SPEAKER WIRE
4PR. $2.50 per foot
4 brown jackets, 4 black, each jacket has a grouping of 7 wires. Strip all the wires back
half an inch, twist all the blacks together for negative, twist all the browns together
for positive.
4VS. $5 per foot
4 gray jackets, 4 black, each jacket has a grouping of 7 wires, but there are five
different thickness' among them. The idea is that any thickness of wire will have a
certain sonic signature. Using 5 different thickness' makes sure that no particular
thickness will dominate the
sonic character of the music.
4TC. $9 per foot
4 blue jackets, 4 black, like 4VS except the wire's coating is Teflon, not plastic. 4TC is
always rated in Stereophile's top class. We're confident you'll find nothing better!
Except maybe 8TC which is $14 per foot!
8TC. $16 per foot
Double the
4TC! Appropriate for high power applications!
INTERCONNECTS
Priced the same whether terminated with RCA or XLR
connectors!
Timbre
Updated version of the famous PBJ. In ultraplate: .5 meter $99,
1m $125, 1.5m $150, 2m $175, 3m $225
Custom lengths available. The system that will REALLY
appreciate a Timbre is... a fairly modest system of receiver or integrated amp with
bookshelf speakers. Of course the big stuff can appreciate it too. But I would invite you
to listen to a Timbre with something moderate like a Rotel or NAD CD player to receiver or
preamp. You'll be pleasantly surprised how much more open and airy a modest system can
become with a Timbre plugged into your CD player!
HERO
HERO is Kimbers new step up from the PBJ. At $190 for one meter, HERO is still
reasonably priced and comes with the industry renowned WBT RCA type connector. HERO uses
the highest performance copper that has ever been developed for the audio industry. HERO
introduces Kimbers GyroQuadratic field geometry and a dual wall, Teflon insulation
design that makes this new cable reasonably close to the KCAG in sound quality. Its sonic
flavor is a little heavier in the bass than Timbre. Available with XLR terminations at the
same price. .5 m $150, 1.5m $230 2m $270, 3m $350, 4m $430.
KCAG
The ultimate interconnect! KCAG uses pure silver for its conductors and has a Teflon
jacket. This combination allows the maximum possible information to be passed along the
musical path. .5m $345, 1m $590, 1.5m $835, 2m $1080: Custom lengths
available.
DIGITAL INTERCONNECTS
One of the best ways to improve the sound of your CD player or any other digital
source is to run a digital output from the source to an outboard DAC. For this, you need a
special Digital Interconnect. The most popular versions are Coaxial, XLR and Optical.
AGDL
AGDL is the best digital interconnect cable we've heard! it is actually a Teflon, triax
with pure silver for both the cable and the connectors. AGDL is available in coaxial or
AES/EBU configuration, same price. .5m $180, 1m $300: Custom lengths available.
See our catalog for more pricing on other lengths.
DV-30
DV-30 is SHIELDED, cost effective COAX digital interconnect. Available as a coax only, not
AES/EBU. Good sound, great price!
1m $100, 2m $150: Custom lengths available.
OPTICAL
OPT-1 is the best sounding Optical Interconnect out there! It sounds better than many coax
competitors. It uses a plastic tube which is formed without the jacket applied because
using heat in this delicate process actually warps the plastic and degrades the sonic
performance! 1m $60, 2m $80: Custom lengths available.
Kimber also makes HDMI video and power cords.
See our catalog for more pricing and information.
