MoFi Super Heavyweight $200

For everyone who would like to squeeze a little more information off their vinyl, MoFi has just introduced its Super Heavyweight. Super Heavyweight is a puck, or “clamp” that sits atop your record. It is not threaded and will work on almost any turntable.
Super Heavyweight is not entirely appropriately named. MoFi didn’t ask me before they named it. Super Heavyweight is a resonance absorbing, stabilizing puck, that sits atop your record to drain extraneous resonance away.
Super Heavyweight has a machined billet aluminum shell. Within is HRS developed polymer. The goal is literally to drink up resonance from the groove itself, as well as bearing and motor noise. It is effective because of its composition of polymer and billet aluminum. The weight alone won’t make it effective. The weight is 367.4 grams, not heavy enough to stress your bearings.
Since Super Heavyweight drains off superfluous resonance and rumble, your stylus is more clearly able to read the music in the grooves. If you listen to a record with, and without Super Heavyweight, we’re confident you’ll hear a distinct step up in definition, imaging and tighter bass.
Some audiophiles spend thousands on a fancier cartridge or cables to yield a much smaller improvement.
We’re happy to show off MoFi’s new invention for you! Stop in to hear from yourself. You can trust us, but it’s more fun to PROVE that you can hear how much $200 can improve your vinyl world.
