Two Years Now

   It will be two years on Jan 18 that Mike Scott of our staff died. We still think about Mike all the time. Mike would be loving this Packer season! The other day Jacques was cleaning out some drawers and we found cards Mike had bought for his daughter and hadn’t yet sent- so we did.

Rega P1 Turntable with Cart, $400

   The Rega P1 table with cartridge provides serious phono performance at a fair price. It has just won a TAS “2007 Product of the Year” award. If you are digging out your old records and find the old turntable needs some help… rather than wasting money to fix a tired old jalopy, consider replacing it with a nice upgrade. You’ll find the “Rega sound” involving and dynamic- all the things vinyl is reputed to do well, Rega excels in- even at $400.

Sony Black Pearl Projector $5000

   The world of video is filled with hype and techno-chatter. Numbers are created by advertising departments without any relative importance. When considering a fine projector there is no substitute for looking at the picture in person- and listening to the fan. The Sony is very quiet and gives a super picture. We think it sets new standards for anywhere near the price point!

Blu-Ray

   Which HD disc format will win? Blockbuster Video is bringing in Blu-ray. It’s hard to believe it won’t win. For those of us that rent movies instead of buying them, this is a big market move to buy Blu-ray.

   Sony has a fine new player for $700 that is very nice- with quicker access times than earlier players. Marantz will introduce its high end Blu-ray player in the first quarter of 2008. Blu-ray looks like it is here to stay and sure has the upper hand with this news.

Paradigm DSP-3400 Subwoofer: $900 Black, Cherry or Rose

   Paradigm’s new DSP-3400 sub is already, literally blowing our customers away! This beast is way too cheap at $900! It has a brand new 14” cast woof and 300w class D amp. It gives new foundation to the price point. It is 22 1/4h, 15 3/4w, 21d.

   The DSP technology offers a contoured EQ for lower level blending too. If you have a big room or basement where you want the sub to be able to dominate the environment- DSP-3400 will not disappoint!

Tivoli Pricing

   Tivoli has just introduced a number of price increases. The most dramatic is the Digital Music System which is going from $700 to $1000! The Model 2 and matching CD player are going from $200 to $300 each. The sub is going from $80 to $160. The PAL is going from $150 to $220. Consider buying now while we have the lower priced inventory!

Chopin Piano Sonatas

   Chopin wrote three grand sonatas for the piano. Sonata #2 is considered among the finest works for piano ever written. Number 1&3 are well worth owning as well. We have a terrific double disc set by Leif Ove Andsnes for under $20 that has all three of these great works with his masterful touch!
