Naim’s Supernait Integrated Amp $5000- Now Here!

Of course we hope you save your music without compression. But even if you do compress the Decco will deliver much better sound than just running an analog out of your computer to some amplifier.

Naim introduced its new KILLER version of the Nait integrated amp a month or two ago. At 50 w/ch and $1625, it’s tough to find a better amp value out there! One could easily argue, there’s rarely need for anything more. Except to us audio nuts, there’s always the need for something better, right?!

Enter the Supernait! The Supernait is Naim’s more powerful integrated amp. It has 80 w/ch and runs $5000. Does Supernait sound much better than the Nait? If your speakers aren’t reasonably efficient, yes! But the difference isn’t just in the wattage rating.

Supernait weighs 50 pounds. It’s a tank. It has more wattage and a much bigger power supply. That’s all helpful. But Supernait also has a built in DAC which is a distinct help to any digital source you might throw at it- CD and Cable Box most likely! If you already have a high end CD player with a great DAC, you can run analog into the Supernait.

Just in terms of speed and heft, Supernait squeezes out more muscle than the Nait. So what it really comes down to is, if your speakers are a bit hungry and you like to give them a kick in the keister on occasion, Supernait with its extra power and built in high quality DAC to help out your sources- could be just the ticket!

“What Hi-Fi?”: Naim fans will love the fast and punchy presentation with plenty of grip in the low frequencies. The Supernait excels in the face of the musical complexity of Tchaikovsky’s “March Slave” while Beverly Knight’s more soulful “Affirmation” CD is presented with precise timing and drive. It’s a sonic star.”

Decco Demo

Last month we wrote about the new Decco integrated amp and how it integrates wonderfully with your computer to produce sweet music.

We now have a great demo set up with a computer feeding the Decco. We have a variety of music saved at different compression ratios. When you compare them, it’s actually alarming at how good the 128kbps files sound through the Decco! The demo illustrates how important the DAC, the tube and the amplifier’s quality are- even with highly compressed files!

Of course we hope you save your music without compression. But even if you do compress the Decco will deliver much better sound than just running an analog out of your computer to some amplifier.
