B&W CM-5 Arrives! $1500pr.

Featuring a new 6.5” mid/woof, the eagerly awaited CM-5 has landed- in stunning gloss piano black. At just under 14” tall, 7 ¾ wide and 11d, CM-5 is a bit large to be termed a true mini-monitor. B&W’s CM-1 (with 5” mid/woof) is the tiny mini.

CM-5 offers groundbreaking resolution for its size/price! The balance of sound is superb. The bass has real extension and character, it isn’t the “one note bass” we often hear from small speakers.

Yet it’s the imaging that will blow you away! It is quite unfussy about where you put it. It’s quite unfussy about where you sit. We think of the many installations we’ve done where the customer has a wall of shelves with a ton of junk on them, CM-5 would be forgiving!

Even driven with a modest 50w/ch amp, the CM-5 will impress. We’ve had a lot of good small speakers over the years. B&W’s 805s still rules at $2800pr. But at south of that, the CM-5 is nothing short of astonishing!

Paradigm NEW Reference Line!

Paradigm’s Reference Line has been very successful for many years. It has been considered sonically competitive with “cost no object” speakers, but at workingman’s money. Paradigm has put its money into hefty cabinets and heavy duty drivers. They’ve been engineered solidly with little flash and dash.

The NEW Reference Line takes Paradigm into new territory. The new line goes beyond rectangular cabinets of laminate wrap. These new beauties have curved bodies of real wood, finished in black ash, cherry or rose. Along with the uptown styling comes improved sound, as you might have suspected! Cabinet control and imaging improvements are readily apparent. But we look forward to learning the character of the new Refs!
