Marantz NR-1200 Stereo Receiver With A Twist! $800

{75×2: 4.1h, 17.3w, 14.9d, 18.1bs}

» Marantz has just introduced a new STEREO RECEIVER. Why should you care? «

For our customers who want audio and video with high quality, but don’t need SURROUND SOUND, NR-1200 is right up your alley!

First of all, NR-1200 is a 75×2 STEREO receiver. It has AM & FM. You would expect that. But there is a lot more about NR-1200 that you probably wouldn’t expect. Let’s go!

  • It has an MM phono input.
  • It has 3 high level RCA inputs, labeled- CD, DVD, Cable/Sat.
  • It has speakers A-B with binding real binding posts, not push terminals.
  • It has tone controls.
  • It has PURE DIRECT for tone bypass purity.

So far so good, A?

Now for the surprises!

  • It has Bluetooth & Airplay 2.
  • It has OPT and Coax digital inputs.
  • It has has 5 HDMI inputs (4k Ultra, HDCP 2.3) and one HDMI output!

Still with me?

It has not one, but two subwoofer RCA outs. Yup, you can easily run your system 2.1 or 2.2.

It has a set of PREAMP OUTS. Yes siree Bob! You can use NR-1200 as a starting point and then add a more muscular power amp to the equation later if you need one- or want one!

The on board 75×2 amp isn’t a McIntosh, but it will drive two pairs of decent speakers at less than Herculean volumes. We have run two pairs of Klipsches, and two pairs of Elacs. We have not tried to shut down NR-1200 with abuse, but it has played two pairs for hours at “pretty decent” volume levels.

The point here is, most STEREO amps shut down the instant you load them with a second pair of speakers. NR-1200 doesn’t.

The fact that NR-1200 allows you to add a more muscular amp down the road, AND has two sub outs, makes it the heart of a fine system now- that can expand with you in the future. The inclusion of HDMI is very smart. The build quality features discrete output transistors and an AB design.
