We finally have back in stock… the magnificent Quad ERA-1s. With C19 devastating production of almost everything on the planet, at long last we have some of the best headphones available- actually available! It’s been… a year.
ERA-1 is a serious set of home headphones. While they sound fine with a garden variety headphone amp, ERA-1 will reward you for running something special. Something special is the Bryston BHA-1 headphone amp, $2300. BHA-1 is state of the art, dedicated headphone amp. It competes with anything at any price! Running BHA-1 on your headphones is like running monster Bryston monoblock power amps on your speakers!
This combo makes a lot of sense. You’re out the door with a headphone solution that will compete with the best of the best, for much less money. Surely you know there are many headphones out there that run $2-3k alone- that aren’t as good as the Quad planars for $800.
Further, no matter what headphone you buy, you are best served to run them with a BHA-1. You can land at $4-5k pretty quickly with competing brands. I’m telling you that for $3k for Quad/Bryston, you’re right there.
ERA-1 is a comfortable, open back design. The top strap and ear pads are leather. Nice touch! The cables are detachable and terminated in a mini connector. Quad includes a 1/4” adapter in the box. It also has a hard shell carry case.
ERA-1s have exquisite transparency. The bass is robust. They’re every bit as good as the $2k Audeze models we used to sell. We simply don’t need Audeze any more. ERA-1s produce a large, dynamic sound. They reveal every nuance of voice and music. SPL is 94dB. 20 ohms impedance.
