Bryston

Bryston and Axiom, two terrific audio companies based in Canada, merged several years ago. The new company is simply called Bryston.

Under the Bryston brand name, Bryston continues to make its highest level of speakers and electronics in Canada. Bryston products push the state of the art in many categories and offer the industry’s best warranty at 20 years!

Axiom

Bryston is using the Axiom banner for its more economical speakers and electronics. They are also made in Canada and have a generous 5 year warranty. When you started reading this paragraph, you thought we were going to say that these were made in China- right?

Axiom products are innovative in their own right. Case in point is a new series of power amps that are coming to market. The Axiom ADA1000 is the first to arrive in this family of amps.

ADA1000 is priced similarly to a market filled with Chinese imports. Yet it sounds better and has more advanced technology. And yep, it is built in Canada with a 5 year warranty.

ADA1000

ADA1000 has a new implementation of Class D technology. Axiom goes to greater lengths than the far east, to take advantage of D’s benefits of lower heat, distortion and lack of miss matched power transistors.

Axiom uses a linear power supply and massive filter capacitance to give its amps outstanding headroom. Axiom amps will triple their rated power as musical peaks demand. ADA1000 will peak at 375×2. It’s unlikely you’ll need more!

The mass produced amps from the other side of the world use SMPS supplies and tiny filter caps. They’re lucky to reach rated power- and have zero headroom. They literally hit a brick wall. A 200×2 Chinese amp will likely NOT achieve rated power and has nothing extra for dynamic peaks.

The beauty of ADA1000 is indeed… it’s CHARACTER.

ADA1000 has an open, breathy sound quality with a 3 dimensional stage that the masses can’t provide. Axiom spells out the space and depth among instruments- that sound relatively flat and lifeless with the far east imports.

If you’re thinking about buying an affordable power amp, your horizons have now expanded!

We describe the nuts and bolts here.
