Model T-10 Expresso Walnut

Bryston has been doing dynamite business with speakers for over a decade. What started with one killer model has morphed in to two series (T&A) of successful speakers, all built in Canada with a 20 year warranty by the way.

Bryston was dramatically slowed by Covid for a couple years, but now- they’re coming on like gangbusters!

Bryston started with its Model T Series based around high testosterone 8” woofers. Then it expanded to its A Series based around robust 6.5” woofers.

Bryston is now coming to market with a third series of speakers, an innovative LINE ARRAY series of speakers, dubbed the T-10 Series. The 10 denotes – they’re over a decade into their speaker business.

The first model in is the MODEL T-10. Soon to follow will be the Middle T-10 and Trim T-10. For now, let’s look at the top dog because it shipped first.

LINE ARRAY

The Line Array concept is to have a column of drivers producing a life sized field of sound.

These drive elements provide a TALL, DEEP soundstage and avoid standing waves in your room.

BASS ALIGNMENT

Model T-10 runs two BEEFY Pure Aluminum 8” woofers in the lower and upper chambers of each column. This is akin to running multiple subwoofers in your room, to avoid the endemic booming created by using a sub or even two.

By having a pair of powerful drivers in a low AND high chamber, in each tower, Model T-10 pressurizes the room more evenly. You get deeper, smoother bass with this alignment, because you’re pressurizing four different locations of the room simultaneously.

BAM- BRYSTON ARRAY MODULE

The Bryston Array Module (BAM) of the speaker features two Pure Aluminum 5.25” mids and two 1” Titanium tweeters. The cabinet is made of Canadian Rangerwood, which is more dense than MDF. The front baffle of this BAM is covered with a quarter inch Pure Aluminum steel, contoured plate- which locks the drivers in rigidly and controls dispersion ideally.

BAM is buttressed with a matrix of supporting struts & braces. The midrange drivers are housed within their own chambers which allow a more minimalist crossover design as the mids roll off in the lower frequencies naturally, without the use of caps.

BAM is constructed as its own core module. It can then be mated with whichever woofer array the customer chooses, based on price. The BAM module of Model T-10 is 12” wide. The BAM module of Middle T-10 and Trim T-10 is 10” wide.

BAM achieves transparency and image size as well as I’ve ever heard. BAM will be the core module used in all three of these new Bryston speakers.

Model T-10 Performance

Model T-10 has superlative resolution, image size/depth and power. When they landed we quickly pushed them into a convenient space and ran them with a 200×2 Mac Integrated. They were fantastic, right out of the box.

It must have been ESP as customer Mike just happen to stop in. He has been on my list to call for an audition of the Model T-10s when they arrived. He showed up when they were barely out of the boxes, literally ice cold. I think this proves he’s in tune with Bryston’s ethos!

Then we moved gear around to give the T-10s a proper dem with high horse power Bryston gear. Running BR-20 and 4B Cubed, they go well beyond what the Mac integrated could do. The sparkling detail and power levels were like the difference between a Ferarri and an Escalade.
