If you want great TV sound, do not buy a sound bar. Your doorbell likely has better speakers with stronger magnets. Let’s do it right.

You don’t even have to do surround sound. Stereo works magnificently.

Start with Amphion speakers. They’re magnificently articulate without being the least bit harsh or grating.

In short, Amphion pays attention to all the minute details of how to construct loudspeakers- with a fervor you can’t get from mass produced products.

Amphion Speakers From Finland

Amphion speakers are made in Finland with a TLC you simply don’t get out of a mass production house from the far east. Amphion costs a bit more than a flimsy, ringing Chinese box.

But the extra expense is worth it.

Think of how much time you spend watching your new flat screen TV. The excellence of today’s panels and the wide array of quality content we have available- just screams to be accompanied by crystal clear aural ecstasy!

Watching concerts via Youtube alone justifies upgrading your TV’s sound system.

Amphion sounds more detailed, with less harshness, than THE OTHER GUYS. Mass produced speakers yield a blaring/ringy sound that will wear you out.

Amphion uses a unique wave guide design to produce a CARDIOD pattern of dispersion. This results in you hearing much more of the speaker- than the resonance of your (less than ideal sounding) listening room.

You’re invariably within the listening sweet spot with Amphion. You hear the dialog or musical content more purely than if the speakers were blasting off the ceiling, floor and side walls. Every other speaker out there is making you hear room reflections which muffle performance.

Amphions produce dialog that is better delineated than a soggy sound bar. There are a hundred and one choices Amphion makes in its designs to achieve this.

Amphions use cast frame drivers built in their own shop in Finland. They make their own Titanium tweeters. These parts are not purchased from a vendor. They’re made in house to a rigid standard.

The crossovers use expensive film caps and silver coated copper wire to assure the best definition. Amphion crosses the tweeter over at 1600kHz. Literally everyone else chooses to run their crossovers HIGHER at 3-5kHz. Amphion insists that the crossover be run lower, because running it higher creates a brighter, more strident sound. Our ears are more attuned to a crossover intrusion at 3-5k vs the lower 1600k. Amphion crossovers are vital to revealing clear dialog and exceptional detail.

The speaker cabinets are comprised of dense Baltic wood cut with CNC machinery- to create a solid housing for the speaker components. The cabinets are internally braced to eliminate extraneous resonance. Any extra vibrations from the cabinet walls steal perspicuity from your sound. Ultimately, Amphions are special because they pay attention to every aspect of the speaker’s design.

Marantz NR1200 Stereo Receiver $600, 75×2

NR 1200

The NR1200 is an AV’s lover’s best choice for the money. It is a STEREO unit. If you don’t need jets circling your sofa, don’t water down your sound by going with a surround receiver.

Imagine a pizza. With NR1200 you cut the pizza in half and have two strong 75w amps, right and left channels. If you go surround sound, you’ve cut the pizza into 5, 7 or more pieces. EACH channel has less push.

Another analogy is, consider the water pressure in your house. You’re taking a shower. You have decent pressure. Then someone turns on another shower. And another. Each additional demand lessens the water pressure in shower number one.

We want the water pressure to be as high as possible so the speakers sound as intelligible

as they can. This isn’t about loudness. We want them to start and stop on a dime. We want maximum transparency for soft vocals as well as dynamic music.

No Soundbar!

If you buy a “good” soundbar (oxymoron by the way!) you’ll spend about a grand. The sound will be louder than the speakers in your TV, but just as murky.

Please consider buying a set of Amphions and a Marantz. You likely watch hours of TV every day. My audio solution will pay off for fun streaming programs- or even sports and talk shows.
