I spend a lot of time in my office. I’ll bet you do too. Chasing problems via email or waiting on hold, is time we’ll never get back.

Most of our manufacturers these days are dazed and confused. People are working from home. Production is slow. Office staff can’t find back orders. Warehouses are inefficient. In short, what used to run pretty competently with humans on top of things, is now a shite show.

I have decided that if I have to be chained to my desk, I’m going to make the most of it.

Speakers

Amphion Argon 3S $3200 Per Pair, Walnut

Argon 3S, Walnut

Argon 3S is among the most transparent speakers you can buy at any price. Amphion created an innovative cabinet and wave guide system to deliver air and space like a stat. The lovely ambiance of a fine recording is a joy to hear. The leading edge of transient attacks (piano, guitar) is clear as a bell. The bass is robust but not the least bit booming. Listening to Amphions is… like listening to a finely tuned piano, truly an epicurean experience. If you have to wait on hold for an hour a day, think Amphion! They’re $3000 per pair in black or white. I like walnut.

Integrated Amp

Leak Stereo 130 $1195 (45×2)

Leak’s new 45×2 integrated, is a warm sounding class AB amp. It has a 32b Sabre DAC on board, Bluetooth and a bunch of other nice features. I want it because of its mellow, non fatiguing sound that plays nice with Amphion. And yeah, it looks cool too!

CD Transport

Leak CDT $895

I have millions of CDs. I luv em! I don’t want singers in my office. I want gorgeous instrumental music, piano most notably.

I typically go through CD boxes in my office. One of my faves is Murray Perahia’s box “The First 40 Years.” Yep. It’s his box of 40 years of Sony recordings, starting in 1972. Recordings in 1972 were terrific, analog, stereo recordings. This box of 68 CDs covers the majority of the music I like from Bach through Brahms.

I have cherished boxes from Kempff, Kissin, Lupatti, Katchen, Fischer & Horowitz among many. Hey, being stuck at the computer or the phone isn’t so bad after all.

Isotek Polaris $700

Polaris w/initium

Yep. Even an office system benefits from the mighty Polaris mains conditioner.
